Just want to make an amusing comment about Bill Joiner... For those of you that took a look at the great photos taken on Reunion night at the Windstar, there is a terrific shot of Bill Joiner holding two "refreshments" and he has his eyes closed!! In the dubious attempt that somebody may care...for those of you that were fortunate enough to be in Ms. Marcia West's 3rd Grade Class at Avalon in 1969 (Such as myself, Rhonda Storter, Jim Widner, Elaine Garner, and others), you will notice Bill Joiner sitting in the front row with the same eyes closed expression! I guess some traditions never die!

Interesting how some names you remember; some faces you could not forget and even after 30 years you see this big group of people that you remember like it was yesterday. There were some people I was hoping to see but there were some people there I really didn't get to talk to that I wanted to..and the evening went by like a flash. Another BIG thanks again to Ed and Kathy for all their hard work and effort. Many people I talked to didn't even have a 20 or 30 year reunion; so we really got lucky to have this class we do and I hope we can do it again. - Matt

At the reunion Mr. Gesdorf told me the class of 78' was very special to him because of our strong comradery and desire to succeed in life. No other class since in his career has left such an impression on him. From what I saw, looks like he was right. I’m glad I showed up as everybody I really wanted to see was there. It was funny, even though 30 years passed, we just picked up on our relationships like we left off yesterday…that’s cool! No better way to remind yourself how short life is when you get to these reunions. I hope to keep in touch with everyone via email as I continue my travels through life. Again, WOW!!! What a party! First I want to thank Ed and Kathy for a wonderful time and for all of your hard work. Totally awesome and can't wait to see pictures from classmates. I too were very sad as I was unpacking my suitcase and missing everyone already. I was telling my family at breakfast this morning as I shared my fun filled weekend story that I felt so good when I walked in at the reunion and some of you ran to me and hugged me or were just so happy to see me. This truly made me feel that I really was a part of a group of wonderful people that I may have just not been able to share alot of time with . It was always in my head that I didnt fit in and that I was just "the girl that lived in the grass hut" wow was I wrong! Thank you all!! We parachuted in through a hole in the space-time continuum, returning momentarily to the place of so many shared, wild, wacky moments of our youths. But the reunion weekend has now entered into the annals of history. At this writing, my plane descends returning me to the normal daily demands of my chosen lifestyle. But I remain blissfully wrapped in the warm glow of satisfaction after a weekend full of surprise encounters with my South Florida past. Most of us were too inebriated to listen to the speeches given during the reunion, but I will reiterate my heartfelt words from that moment. I truly appreciate that you took the plunge and made the commitment to step out of your comfortable day-to-day existence to see what 30 years has done to your past life. For me who has never felt like it is possible to successfully return to the past and attain any great satisfaction in doing so (that was then – this is now mentality), I was proved totally wrong. Although there were many many others that we would have undoubtedly been thrilled to have also shared the weekend together with, our little impromptu assembled group made for a memorable weekend filled with laughter, fond remembrances, snippets of good-natured gossip and renewed friendship. Before time once again, scatters us to the wind and scrambles our fading memories from the weekend, I want to say thank-you for a great time!

To all of you who have lost a love one recently and not so recently MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU ! On May 18th it will be 1 year since my father died. Since April 7th I have lost 5 people I know from age 7 months to 94 years old and one of my 12 year old wolfdogs died this past Monday. Needless to say I have not been my usual happy self. But knowing that in a few short weeks I will be seeing so many people who shared a part of my life has given me something joyful to look forward too! Don't worry I'll be there with a smile on my face. It's to bad my husband can't come with me you guys would like him. Until then be safe and take care! Liz

Sorry to hear another loss to SIDS--I'll keep her in my prayers. So looking forward to seeing the class that I hardly remember! I wasn't at Lely HS that long, but do have fond memories of the school and was glad to graduate in 78. Hope things are going well and will be meeting people that probably do not remember me--I'm the one from Louisiana that already had a baby, Christina, and also got married in January before graduation! Ed and Kathy, great job on this event, it seems like a lot more people may make it over the 20^th re-union. OK... recent posts re: importing of fat furry mammals from the far North are making me a tad nervous about coming back to Naples from the Seattle area! However, since I plan on moving back to FL in the next month or so, perhaps I can become indigenous again? I for one, CAN believe it has been 30 years since graduating, I’m just surprised I have survived this long, had I known, I would have taken better care of myself! Wow!! I can't believe the response! This is going to be awesome. I still live here in Naples never left. I see Sput and a few others that are still around town. I wish I could have made the 20th but I was in NY State visiting my husband's family. I've been married to Kenn for almost 24 years now. As far as teachers are concerned, Coach Tanner is still in town over at Golden Gate High School (where my oldest has graduated and have a senior there now - in fact, Tanner was his football coach too!). Hi everyone.... Thanks to all involved in this venture and wonderful website that tickled my memory beyond belief! I'm working out the possible kinks to attend the 30th...looking forward to seeing everyone...wow it's been too long. I'm in a transition part of my life after ending a marriage of 18 yrs in a difficult divorce and wonderful decision to leave a long-time R & D chemistry position to attend grad school to obtain a MAT degree to teach 7th grade science and algebra...long time dream of mine finally may come true :) Crazy??? Most definitely!!! Some things never change...ha ha...still adventureous as ever...maybe more so! If possible, I will be attending the event with my 15 yr old daughter and 4 yr old son and making it a vacation as well since Alexandria and Nicholas have never been to Naples and it's been 25 or so years for me too.
